Doug Drake
Prospect Place, Waltham, MA

Mr. Drake has served his community for nine years by working with a local shelter, The Pine Street Inn. He regularly serves dinner to those less fortunate. And, over the past four years, he raised $6,500 for the fight against hunger through fun-filled baked goods auctions and displays that illustrate the plight of the hungry.

Carol Lupisella
Kodak, Rochester, NY

Ms. Lupisella puts her foodservice expertise to good use as a weekly volunteer to feed the hungry in Rochester. As a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, she strives to make the meals she prepares for shelter residents as creative and nutritious as possible, which is helpful in encouraging the children to eat. She has also trained the shelter staff in safe food handling procedures and spearheaded Kodak's volunteer activities.

Fran March
Hewlett Packard, Greeley, CO

Ms. March cooks breakfast once a week for residents of Guadeloupe House, a local homeless shelter. She also donates leftover food from Hewlett Packard to the shelter two to three times a week, along with other items such as clothing, toys, and videotapes-which are often purchased with her own money.

Greg Mazeres
University of California, Davis, CA

Mr. Mazeres coordinates the Yolo County Food Bank Program, which provides meals to the hungry using leftover food donated by the University of California-an estimated 100 lbs. of nutritious foods weekly. For the past six years he has also planned an annual Oxfam Hunger Banquet to educate students about the problem of world hunger and encourage them to donate meals through the Oxfam Fast program.

Teto Saunders
Children's Hospital, Philadelphia, PA

Mr. Saunders developed and continues to oversee two community programs to help the homeless get back on their feet-one to feed homeless families through a soup kitchen, and the other to provide daycare, adult education programs, youth activities, computer classes, and before and after school programs.

Sterling Smith
Marriott International, Bethesda, MD

Through his work with the DC Central Kitchen, Mr. Smith has been a tireless advocate for the unemployed in Washington, DC. He has taught culinary skills to more than 300 homeless individuals over the past three years, and has hired several graduates as members of the Sodexho team.

Damian Thomas
Times-Picayune, LaPlace, LA

Mr. Thomas has used his culinary expertise to raise more than $15,000 for a local community center, so they could purchase much-needed tools and equipment. His year-round fundraising activities have included three/four course meals, and a Mayor's Luncheon. He also teaches job placement skills to the unemployed and provides healthy snacks for needy children.

Gabriel Wall
Nortel Vending, Morrisville, NC

Mr. Wall distributes food and offers services to those living at the Interfaith Council Community House. This summer, he will travel to Chile to help students of all ages whose health has been compromised by malnutrition and water-borne disease. His knowledge of Spanish will help the children and their families communicate with American health professionals.
